How to use retargeting to instantly get more customers

24 Aug 2024

Have you ever been talking to someone about something, and suddenly, the only ads you see are google ads for what you were just talking about?

As creepy as it sounds, this is an actual marketing technique called “retargeting”, and if you know the secrets on how to use it correctly, it might just be the difference between a tiny puddle of clients and a giant tsunami.

In these next four minutes, I will teach you these secrets so you can start building a fanbase and make selling your product 100x easier. Let’s get into it.

The Goldfish Problem

Retargeting is one of the best ways to get some clients in. Unfortunately, people don’t use it right, and their retargeting becomes useless.

They will use retargeting for one thing, brand recognition. They will plaster their name and put a big fat logo on their ad hoping some magic happens.

and instead of getting new clients, it just annoys them. It provides zero value and zero reason for prospects to follow.

“But Blake, I am retargeting!”

Yes, this is true, but if you just show someone your name and logo, it’s not going to do you any good. People will just see your name, then they’ll see it again, and again, and again. Sounds more annoying than helpful right?

Let’s say someone eventually wants your product and clicks on your google ad, but then they leave because they have the attention span of a goldfish.

Frustrating, right?

That’s where these secrets of “Retargeting” come into play. Showing them another ad of your business will re-jog their memory and make them want to buy again. Kind of like a second chance if you will.

And there’s a way to show them more ads without annoying them. And it’s not what you think. Not only does this work in the long-run after you build a fanbase, your future clients won’t be as annoyed when they see your ad for the seventh time.

So here are the tips to make sure the customer visits a second time. And the tips to make sure you convert him this time.

The secret to the attention problem

The biggest problem people make is using the same value over and over again. If they see the exact same content again and again, they will eventually just ignore you. So you shouldn’t show the same ad at all.

Instead, we’re gonna show them new information and provide new free value that they have never seen before. We’re gonna show them two, or four, or maybe 52 videos showing them a new feature every time. Useful info that might actually help them.

And then when we get people who are interested in our ad? We’re going to retarget them. Showing them more and more videos, and more and more features and info about our product.

When you give all this free value to people, something weird happens. Eventually, on maybe video #2 or video #5, the retargeted customers will soon think, “Well, he did something for me, I must do something for him!”

I know, it’s crazy, but it’s built into us. We just naturally help people who help us. So if you help your customers by making ads that give them value, they will in return give you attention which you can direct into a sale.

Crazy, I know.

But it makes selling a product so much easier.

Think about it, what is easier: Selling to some random guy who has known you from 10 seconds ago, or someone who has been following you for months and loves your advice. Who is more likely to buy?

If you learn how to utilize retargeting, selling becomes 100x easier. Because they are already your fan, and it’s pretty easy to sell to a fan of yours.

Try making ads with this in mind. Trying to pump our free value to do some retargeting, and maybe, you might just get a Tsunami of clients waiting at your doorstep begging for your product.

Blake
