How to Out-Write AI and Actually Start Getting Clients
23 Sept 2024

There’s a trick that not many people know that will drastically improve the quality of your writing.
In the last article, we learned the easiest way to grab someone's attention, but now we’re going to learn how to KEEP the attention.
And this is exactly what we are going to see today.
In the next 5 minutes, you will gain the ability to create content so good that your reader's faces will be permanently glued to the screen, begging for more content.
Ready? Let's get into it.
Get more clients with “The Bar Test”
Sales and dating are actually very similar.
Both have the end goal of getting something you want out of somebody else.
Both need you to grab their attention, and then keep it until you get what you need.
Knowing this, you wouldn’t approach a beautiful woman at a bar with this introduction
“Hi, I hope this message finds you well. I’m John. I love discovering new places and trying different drinks. What about you? What brings you out tonight?”
This is an actual intro AI made. I bet you many guys are using this at your local bar tonight.
Talking like this is a 1 way ticket straight to someone's drink splashed on your face.
But what does this have to do with your writing skills?
If you wouldn’t talk to a random stranger you met in a bar like this, why would you do the same when you write your ads?
Here's a question I like to ask myself when I make an ad:
“Would I say this to an actual stranger in conversation?”
If the answer is no, change something. If it’s a yes, great! It’s super simple and this trick works every time.
Here’s a good example:
‘As a dentist, the top priority is to ensure clients leave feeling satisfied and confident, so they don't have to worry about future appointments. This is the essential principle of operating a dental practice.’
Let’s change that to:
‘Most Dentists run into the problem of leaving their clients without a final checkup and sometimes clients have to make future appointments, which is never good on your end.’
See how that just makes more sense, and how it’s easier to read now?
The first sentence was probably made by AI, but the second sentence is very clear, simple and easy to read.
The Simple Trick to Making Good Copy
Here’s a trick I use that I guarantee you will work with any ad, any blog, any Email, anything you write.
Read your copy out loud.
See if it flows. Do you stumble over any words? Time to change them. Does it sound like something you would say to a friend? Keep it.
Here’s another example you might come across:
Most people who run their business make the mistake of acting too soon before they buy, which can result in them not making the best decision in the long run costing them sales and unnecessary money that doesn’t even need to be spent.
That was a 43 word sentence. When was the last time you spoke a 43 word sentence in conversation?
Read that sentence again, this time out loud.
Unless your lungs are like Michael Phelps, you probably said that sentence and lost a lot of breath. If that happens, you most likely have a run-on sentence. You might have noticed that you can add a couple periods in there, so you don’t gasp for air every three lines.
Conversations have depth and flow. Some sentences are super long, others, not so much.
Here’s a good example. Only four words.
Get into this habit. It will upgrade your writing tremendously. I guarantee it.
