When Marketing Agencies Need to Grab Attention, This Is What They Do.

4 Nov 2024

You know what people hate reading?

Anything that’s BOOORRRINNGG .

Repetitive, mundane, and uninteresting, you get the point.

Boring ads are the one way ticket to get people scrolling right past your content, forgetting it ever existed in about 18 seconds.

So here’s what to do to guarantee your 10/10 client stops their doom scrolling and instantly has their eyes glued to the screen, begging for more content. Let’s get into it.

The Secret to Ads Nobody Talks About: Headlines

Headlines are the first thing readers see in your ad. They’re also the deciding factor if the reader will even care about your ad in the first place. So definitely put a lot of thought into this.

If this part is lacking in your ads, it will just blend in, and you can consider your ad useless.

You could have the coolest photo, the best offer, but if your headline is boring? Nobody is going to read anything you wrote.

Most ads have really boring headlines, but the way to fix it is actually really easy.

Follow this blueprint when making your headlines to force people to keep reading your ad.

  1. Is it short

  2. Is it readable

  3. Does it grab your attention instantly

  4. Is there a Bon Jovi reference

Ok, maybe that last one isn’t necessary, but you get the point.

The first two tips are pretty self explanatory, but the tip people get wrong all of the time is making sure your headlines hooks the reader in. Your hook has to force them to keep reading, or else they will keep scrolling.

If your headline doesn’t glue Facebook users' eyes to their screen, then you probably have a boring headline.

Make it impossible for the reader to get bored. That’s why we keep our headlines short and sweet.

We don’t want any headlines like this:

“We at fitness nutrition believe that customer service is our number one quality because we really care about our customer satisfaction and feedback.”

That stuff is weaker than a vegan bodybuilder. It’s what every other ad is saying. It’s predictable.

But worst of all? It’s boring. And boring doesn’t pay the bills in AdLand.

When people are scrolling on Facebook, they’re not trying to read your ad. They’re just scrolling and scrolling until something interesting catches their eye.

So do just that. Get their attention. Force them to go from scrolling mode to reading mode.

Not trying to hurt your feelings, but until you give them a reason to read, they won’t read.

Your future client is on the hunt for that new interesting thing. Only when they believe and understand that you’re trying to actually help them are they ready to read the rest of the ad. ⠀

So keep it laser focused on how reading your stuff will actually help them out.
