Design VS Copy (Why copy is the GOAT)

5 Jan 2025

Design > Copy right?

WRONG

Design should NEVER be in front of copy. You know why?

Because design doesn’t sell, but words do. Lemme explain:

Imagine we’re in a car dealership for a second.

Let’s say the salesman had the nicest suit on, the dealership looked straight out of Heaven, and you even got some fresh warm coffee right when you walked in.

Now Imagine you’re talking to the salesman, but he can’t talk for SH*T.

“We at paradise dealerships… uhhh… really value… ummmm… your partnership… in finding…  the most competitive deals…. Uhh… For you and your…. Family”

Yeah, the dealership might have looked top-notch, but you are NOT buying a car from them that day.

And that’s the problem with a lot of Meta Ads. They spend soooooooo much time and money making the best DESIGN they’ve ever seen. But when it comes to the COPY, they draw a blank.

You have to focus on what you SAY well before you focus on what you SEE.

Pretty design gets a lot of eyes, but good words will get you a lot of BUYS.

Buys are what pay the bills, eyes do not.

Here’s a tip:

Instead of stressing over if you should use a cat, dog or a lizard in your ad, start focusing on what you’re going to SAY first.

It might feel awkward at first, but once you find out what you’re going to say, you’ll easily find a design that matches it.

Again, not saying design isn’t important, but copy is what brings in the money.

if your copy is rock solid, design doesn’t really matter anymore.

Remember this:

**DESIGN SERVES COPY**. Never the other way around.

If copy serves the design, the ad will be lame and probably confusing. We don’t want that.

Keep this in mind the next time you make a meta ad. It might just make or break your ad.
